The mojito ticks all of the boxes when it comes to at home mixology: quick, fun and easy to make, plus it’s a total crowd pleaser.
Below is my basic mojito recipe, however feel free to adjust the levels to suit your own unique palette. Have a sweet tooth? Add more sugar. Prefer more tang? Up the lime. Like more rum? You go right ahead sister!
You will need:
10 fresh mint leaves
4 lime wedges
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup ice cubes
45 ml (1 1/2 oz) good quality white rum
soda water to top
Makes 1 mojito.
Add lime and sugar to a glass and muddle well to release the aromas and juice from the fruit. Place mint into glass, and gently push the mint into the lime mix with your muddling stick, being careful not to overwork.
Pour in your rum, followed by the ice and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Top with cold soda water and garnish with more mint.
Now sit down, relax and imagine you’re on a topical island.
