DIY Bath Soak

At the risk of sounding like an old lady, my perfect night now goes a little something like this: hot bath, glass of wine in hand and… silence. When your body is tired and sore, a restorative soak is called for, and this recipe couldn’t be easier. Simply throw everything into a bowl, mix and store. This recipe makes enough for 3 or 4 soaks, so multiply as you see fit.

This soak also makes a lovely, inexpensive gift idea for Mother’s Day, and is easy enough for your children to put together (see note below).

You will need:

  • 1 cup Epsom salts
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon course sea salt
  • 8-10 drops of your favourite essential oil (peppermint, lavender and rosemary are some of mine)
  • 2 teaspoons dried edible flowers (I used cornflowers)
  • 1 chamomile teabag, contents emptied and packaging discarded

Method:

In a large bowl combine all of your ingredients and store in an airtight jar. Add 2 large spoonfuls to a hot bath and enjoy.

Note: This simple is easy enough for kids to make as a Mother’s Day gift. Just ensure little ones are supervised, and don’t ingest any of the ingredients, and keep essential oils away from their eyes.

  • Such a pretty bath soak. I love that you added the dried petals to it.
