Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a little sparkle on their toes? I recently bought a load of emoji iron-on patches from Etsy with the intention of pimping a pair of my denim cutoffs, but when I saw these silver flats online, I knew I wanted to make some emoji flats instead. And my favourite thing about this DIY? It takes only a couple of minutes to assemble.
You will need:
- Silver flats (I got mine from ASOS. Similar here, here, and here).
- Iron-on emoji patches (Winks For Days on Etsy has a great selection)
- Superglue (or double-sided tape)
- Washi tape
- Rag cloth (for cleaning up any spills)
- Rubber gloves.
Arrange the emoji patches on your shoes and, using wash tape, tape one edge of the patch to the shoe to keep it in place. I used only one patch per shoe, but feel free to go a little crazy and adorn the shoe with multiple emojis.
Now, there are two options here: you can either use superglue or double sided tape to secure the patch. Obviously the glue is more durable and will secure the patch permanently, but if you will want to change the arrangement of emojis in the future just use double-sided tape (note: the tape may damage the shoe finish when removed, so these will have to remain #emojiflatsforlyf).
If you’re using superglue, pop on your gloves and follow the packet instructions to open the tube. Carefully dab a couple of small dabs of glue on the back of each patch, towards the outer edge. Be careful not to use too much glue here, as you don’t want it to spill over the sides. Press each patch into place and allow to dry for a few minutes.
